Fifteen Trees

Charity Name: Fifteen Trees

Tagline: Planting trees to reduce your carbon footprint

Location: Victoria, Australia

Contact: Colleen Filippa

What is Fifteen Trees all about?

We help companies reduce their carbon footprint through community tree planting projects.

How long have you been operating?

8 years

Where did the idea start?

I am a member of the local voluntary Landcare group and I thought it was crazy that we had to raise money to buy trees before we could plan our planting projects. I thought that we should be encouraging companies to buy the trees for us. The volunteers weren’t keen on contacting the companies, so I thought ‘Right, I’ll do it’. And the business grew from there.

Do you have any success stories?

We recently planted our 100,000th tree.

Any interesting fact you can share?

Small independent nurseries supply all the trees. The trees are native to the area in which they are planted.

What’s the overall vision for Fifteen Trees?

To supply trees to any and all community groups who need trees for their projects. At present, I probably only help out 50% of those who ask for trees.

What’s your ‘why’?

I want to encourage people to make a difference in their ‘neck of the wood’. It can be overwhelming to see what is happening in the world and how our beautiful planet is struggling. I believe strongly in the collective good.

Anything else you’d like to add or that you think we should know?

We plant the trees in Australia and New Zealand.
