What is ELBH all about?
Our belief is that every Australian should have access to a toothbrush and a bar of soap, and that by providing basic toiletries to people in need we are providing them with not only the essentials, but also a little bit of dignity.
By receiving donated hotel toiletries, airline amenity kits, as well as make-up and cosmetic samples and sanitary items we are able to supply these products, packed into our care packages to the homeless, asylum seekers and victims of Domestic Violence as well as troubled youths through Women’s Refuge, Homeless Shelters, Youth Centres, Asylum Centres and Community Centres as well as via small Government and Community Groups.

Every Little Bit Helps was founded in July 2014
Where did the idea start?
The catalyst for establishing Every Little Bit Helps was learning that while there are many facilities providing laundry and shower facilities to people in need, most are able to supply little more than running water and previously did not have regular and reliable access to basic toiletry products.
How do TOWNHALL Citizens or visitors get involved?
As a small grassroots charity that is run purely by volunteers we are always looking for an extra pair of hands and there are many ways to get involved such as becoming a drop off location, or volunteering to join us for a public packing day or host a packing day at your office. We are also looking for likeminded individuals to help us with our expansion through Australia so we can reach more people through our care packs.
Do you have any success stories?
Since we established over 3 years ago we have now donated over 390,000 products or nearly 20,000 care packs.
We have recently obtained PBI status as a charity and also DRG meaning all donations over $2 are fully tax deductible.
Do you have a project on TOWNHALL or an important event or mission coming up?
The demand for our care packs is always high and we generally have a wait list so it is important that citizens and visitors continue to help us spread that word and of course continue to send us their unopened hotel toiletries and airline amenity kits.
Are you raising funds for anything specific?
We continue to see funding to assist with our 2 major expenses – the purchase of our custom made red mesh bags that we pack our care packs into, and our transportation costs to get these care packs to remote and regional locations as well as metropolitan areas.
Any interesting fact you can share?
Tonight over 105,000 Australians are homeless and the single biggest cause of homelessness in Australia is Domestic Violence. It is for this reason that we offer both our “Standard Care Packs” and also our “ Lady Care Packs” that are made up of make-up and consmetic samples as well as sanitary items and other feminine items like a hair tie or a shower cap – Every Little Bit Helps.
What’s the overall vision for ELBH?
We want to continue to reach into parts of Australia that desperately need our help, places like the Northern Territory as well as remote and regional areas. We are actively seeking a relationship with a logistics company to assist with our transportation needs.
